Sentry9000 Inc. was created on January 2, 2008 as a spin-off from FoodHorizon Inc. The purpose of creating a new company was to create a company that was exclusively serving the food service industry. FoodHorizon was started in 1998 to provide automated data collection for the food processing industry. It has customers in the meat, bakery and vegetable arenas.

In 2003, FoodHorizon was contacted by a company in the UK to create a HACCP documentation program for the UK market. Inn the UK and most of the EU, all food service entities are required to have HACCP documentation. This includes restaurants, schools, hospitals, caterers and more. The system was named Sentinel and consists of a PDA program. Currently the PDA has now been exchanged for a Smart phone. The data is input into the PDA on the Smart phone and sent via GPRS to a server where the data is presented on a web site for review.

In 2005, FoodHorizon developed Sentry9000.SFA to meet the demands of the USDA Guidelines for HACCP in schools cafeterias. The program was developed to specifically meet the NFSMI template developed to provide school's support in meeting the USDA Guidelines. The Sentry9000.SFA is a system that consists of a handheld computer, a wireless bluetooth temperature probe, off-site server and a web site. Data is sent via the Internet in real-time.

In January 2008, Sentry9000 Inc. was created to separate the business priorities for FoodHorizon Inc. FoodHorizon will continue to work with food production companies while Sentry9000 Inc. will work exclusively with the food service industry. The president and founder of Sentry9000 Inc. is Dr. Larry Wyatt. Dr. Wyatt is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has worked with major companies both nationally and internationally in food safety and quality control issues. Dr. Wyatt moves from the position of CEO for FoodHorizon Inc. to the leadership role in Sentry9000 Inc. Dr. Wyatt has been responsible for the development of the Sentry9000 Suite of Products and will continue to provide the food service industry the type products that will assist them in providing their customers a safe, quality dining experience.

Sentry9000 is currently in 5 states and is expanding its sales force to cover the United States. The most recent addition was to the Midwest.
